How to prepare GCP Professional Solution Architect in 2024
Recently I passed my GCP Professional Solution Architect. Here are some quick tips to help you pass this exam
Why should take GCP Certificate
The first question is there several popular cloud providers how can we choose the right one.
AWS is the leader at the moment with extensive services and global reach, ideal for scalability.
Azure excels in integrating with Microsoft tools, making it the go-to for enterprises already using Microsoft products.
GCP shines in data analytics, machine learning, and geospatial. As Google has some existing infrastructure and tools to support google map and so on. That is the reason I take GCP.
The reason why I take GCP is our company focuses on geospatial industry development. You can choose the right certificate aligns with your career goal and our company’s focus.
Once you have decided GCP I believe professional solution architect or solution architect assistant is a good choice as it covers most of the GCP services and architect knowledge.

Study Material
- Google Cloud Skills Boost: this is the official website of GCP. It deserves us spend most of the time.
- https://app.pluralsight.com/library/courses/preparing-professional-cloud-architect-journey-7: this is another resource I did use.
If you still find these two are not enough you can try some practice exam courses on Udemy.
Case Studies !!!:
After you finish the basic knowledge, his could be the most important part of your exam preparation as there are four case studies in your exam and you don’t have enough time to read through during the exam so that you need to understand the case studies background and ideally you can create yourself some exercises based on these scenarios to practice.
There are four case studies. During the exam GCP will ask you questions based on these case studies.
Let’s take one case study as an example:
After you read the case study you can think of how to design the IOT architect and transfer IOT data for the team to analyze. Like do you need load-balancer, BigQuery, or something related to it given the background?
Or can the data be directly into BigQuery or through Pub/Sub you can think of those in detail.
To extend the question maybe you need to think of the storage: Does it need multi-regional or regional storage enough?
Spend enough time designing architects for the four case studies. It will help you pass the exam.
How to register for this exam:
this is the place to schedule your GCP exam. After you visit create your account. If your company is the partner of Google Cloud then make right fill in the following sections. The organization email could be different email rather the email address you use on daily basis.
If you are using the right organization email then GCP can recognize you belongs to which partner and then you can register for an exam to schedule your exam. There are online exam and offline exam I prefer the offline.
Conclusion:
I hope you enjoy the journey to your Professional Solution Architect and continuously stay updated with the latest GCP services and case studies to refine your knowledge and keep up with evolving trends in cloud architecture. I still want to mention read the four case studies Google has provided is important before your exam.
